The children have been told to “stay home” amid reports of “large-scale” disorder and stabbings at a London festival. Police have been dispatched to the funfair in Circus Field, Blackheath to disperse the incident and the event is closed. Footage posted on the Internet showed a large number of officers at the scene, creating a human barrier and dispersing crowds. A helicopter was also heard circling above as people left the event. Metropolitan police said police “were dealing with reports of anti-social behavior and a number of attacks in Greenwich Park.” The force said a knife had also been reported, but no casualties were found. Three people have been arrested for possession of an assault rifle and related offenses, the Met said in a statement. Section 60 around Greenwich Park and the Blackheath Common has been ordered and will remain in effect until 7 a.m. tomorrow. Greenwich police said the order was implemented after “certain incidents of violence in the area”. Labor MP Mathew Pennycock of Greenwich and Woolwich wrote on Twitter: “The police are using extra resources. “Please avoid the area. “If you think your child is at the festival or in the area, ask him or her to return home immediately.” A person believed to be at the festival when the “unrest” took place said he did not see “real violence”, but said he saw “a huge group of young people digging up and down the exhibition”.
