Doncic withdrew from his regular-season victory over the San Antonio Spurs on Sunday night with what the team called a left-leg jumper, who will undoubtedly jeopardize the start of his post-season. Less than three minutes into the third quarter of their 130-120 victory at the American Airlines Center, Doncic began to cross the strip before kicking the ball into the wing after meeting several Spurs players at the top of the key. Although it did not look like much had happened to him in the lane, Doncic stretched out his left foot immediately after taking a step. Doncic immediately left the field and went straight to the locker room. The team quickly eliminated him by stretching his left calf. Doncic finished the night with 26 points, nine assists and eight rebounds. Mavericks coach Jason Kidd said after the game that he had not spoken to Doncic and was not sure how serious the injury was, but hoped to learn more on Monday. “We will learn more tomorrow and go from there,” Kidd told ESPN’s Tim MacMahon. “Hopefully it is not too serious.” While it depends on the grade of the calf stem, the average recovery from a calf stem at this time is 16 days. Kidd said his plan was to play his key players normally in the third quarter, as he expected to have at least five days off before their first playoff game. He insisted that they did not even see the New Orleans Pelicans-Golden State Warriors score – something that directly affected their playoff seed. “Injury is part of the game. Absence is part of the game. “We’ll see how he feels,” Kidd told Bally Sports Southwest. “The good thing is that we won the stadium, so we do not have to travel and we have a week to play.” The Mavericks finished No. 4 in the Western Conference and will open the playoffs against the Utah Jazz on Saturday. “This is going to be a great test for us and we just have to make it one game at a time,” Kidd told Jazz on Bally Sports Southwest. “They are well trained, they have very talented players and their plans, they play at a high level and their defense is very good. This should be a fun series. “ Luka Doncic left Sunday’s regular season final with a calf fatigue. (Tim Heitman / Getty Images)
