A fire broke out in a vehicle after a car and a truck were involved in the accident near Goole. Both drivers lost their lives after the collision on the M62 motorway heading east at around 9.50 yesterday morning.
Police remained at the scene overnight. This morning, police said a 54-year-old man driving the car and a 53-year-old man driving an HGV were found dead at the scene. He remained in serious condition this morning, police said. The collision resulted in the complete closure of the highway as yesterday the traffic was diverted. Emergency services were called to the scene, including ambulances and firefighters, while investigators remained at the scene around 6pm and then the road reopened. A witness praised two heroic men who rushed to save the girl from the truck as the flames spread between the vehicles. Police are now appealing to anyone who saw the accident or who may have taken video from the dashboard to contact them.
