A 56-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with a homicide two years ago in Victoria after being arrested in Ontario. George Thurcott was arrested on April 8 in Mississauga, Ont. by the Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit, in collaboration with the Toronto Police Department and the Peel District Police. He returned to Victoria and appeared in court on April 11. He remains in custody pending his next court appearance. About 2:30 p.m. On March 16, 2020, police responded to an apartment building on 3,000-square-foot Douglas Street after reports that a man had been attacked and wounded with a gun.
