Manchester City and Liverpool shared the points in an exciting draw at the Etihad, as the visitors tied twice to keep the title race alive, despite the fact that the Premier League leaders maintain their slim advantage. It was City who hit first in a lightning start, as Kevin De Bruyne overtook Fambino and blocked goalkeeper Allison’s effort within five minutes, but the Reds responded well and Diogo Giotta equalized less than 10 minutes later. Gabriel Jesούςs, a surprise teammate of Pep Guardiola’s team, threw the hosts forward before the break, as he stuck at the end of the excellent tradition of Joao Cancello. Liverpool counterattacked again, however, as Santo Mane completed Mohamed Salah’s superb pass to equalize just 47 seconds after the restart. Liverpool were much better after the break, but were given a lifeline when Rahim Sterling’s goal was disallowed by the VAR for offside, before Salah saw a curling attempt deflected. Riyad Mahrez hits the post with a free kick, before he misses a huge chance as the match ends in a draw. Manchester City maintain the title lead, but Liverpool keep the game alive in an exciting draw
A manic and pulsating game that somehow ended at all levels, without a tip, but a game that really changes things at the top. Liverpool’s 2-2 draw at Manchester City means she no longer has the title in her hands and now needs a favor elsewhere. Pep Guardiola’s team has better control of the race for the title, as it remains one point ahead, but may wonder if it could beat him there and beyond. Surely they could have won it a few times in the first half, only for Liverpool to return – and stay in the race – with an impressive display of resilience. In this sense, a game that had been created quite as the pinnacle of football at the moment did not by itself have a final rise. Riyad Mahrez placed his tempting late chip too far above the post. We are still waiting for the real crescendo. Maybe this is for the best and will force this fight to even better levels. Maybe we can go to the last day again. Reaction from Jordan Henderson
Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson also voiced his thoughts on the game, telling Sky Sports after the game: “It was an intense game we knew it would be. We knew it would be difficult, but we wanted to give it our all and get the victory. We could not do that but we did not lose. It is not the end of the world, we are still in the struggle, so positive and negative. “I think we started well, but we were a little upset sometimes. Of course we knew we would be under pressure early on, they are a fantastic team. I felt that we calmed down a bit and created problems for them. It is nice how we came from behind twice. We want to go better of course. “You have to keep going, you have to be ready to suffer. You have to stay positive, stay in the front leg and not give them time. At times it worked, in others we can defend better. “We have to wait and see. They do not drop many points, we know that. We need to concentrate on ourselves and win as many games as possible. If they slip, we have to be right behind them. We will continue until the end “. Michael Jones April 10, 2022 6:53 p.m. 1649612809
Kevin De Bruyne speaking to Sky Sports
Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne opened the scoring today and gave his reaction to Sky Sports after the match. “It was difficult. To be fair, I think we played great,” he said. “The way we played was very good and we had to score more. It’s what it is. It was a great game. “I think it should [be more before half-time] but we were still winning. The way the second half started is disappointing. “I think we played great and created a lot of opportunities to win the game.” Asked if City had missed Riyad Mahrez’s missed opportunity at the end of the game, De Bruyne replied: “It’s a great opportunity. Riyadh chose to chip and if he enters it is a wonderful goal. “Today we played very well, I think we had the upper hand. This is the way we should play the rest of the season. It is similar. I know people have said that whoever wins gets the title. “But it is very difficult, the program is very difficult for both teams to win every game, but we will try.” Michael Jones April 10, 2022 6:46 p.m. 1649612547

Manchester City 2-2 Liverpool
90 + 3 minutes: Opportunity! Fabinho sends the ball to the midfield and De Bruyne passes the ball to Van Dijk to Mahrez. He brings the ball to the big area as Allison comes out to close it. Mahrez tries to win it for City by throwing it over the goalkeeper, but there is not enough dive in the effort and the ball falls over the net! Michael Jones 10 April 2022 18:23 1649611176
Manchester City 2-2 Liverpool
90 minutes: Close! Manchester City take a free kick about 25 yards out right in front of the goal. Kevin De Bruyne and Riyad Mahrez stand above him and it’s Mahrez who shoots. He wraps his effort around the wall, but starts it too far and hits its outer beam! Four minutes extra play time. Michael Jones April 10, 2022 18:19
