A man from Penticton who was trapped and crushed in a recycling truck died from his injuries. The RCMP reports that the immediate and extended family of the unnamed 52-year-old has been informed. On the morning of April 5, police and an ambulance responded to Wade Avenue West after a recycling truck driver picked up a bin and suddenly heard someone shouting. The man appeared to be sleeping in the unlocked trash can. He was seriously injured by the truck’s compression mechanism and was taken to hospital. The Penticton RCMP is continuing its investigation, but says that at the moment no crime seems to be involved in the man’s death. BC Coroners Service is also conducting parallel exploratory research. The local Penticton homeless shelters are currently operating at 100% capacity.
