The victim was at the entrance to Glen Road at Sherborune TTC Station in St. Louis. James Town at 5 p.m., when he was shot several times.
An outpatient paramedic at the scene attempted to treat him and was rushed to St. John’s Hospital. Michael, where he was later pronounced dead.
Family and Indian consular officials named him 21-year-old Kartik Vasudev on Friday.
Vasudev’s brother told CP24 that he was a student at Seneca College and was taking the subway to work when he was killed.
Arrived in Canada in January.
“We are shocked and saddened by the unfortunate murder of Indian student Kartik Vasudev in a shooting incident in Toronto yesterday,” the Consulate General of India wrote in a statement posted on Twitter on Friday. “We are in contact with the family and will provide all possible assistance in the timely repatriation of the bodies.”
The necropsy-necropsy is scheduled for Friday.
Police said the suspect in the shooting was a black man, five feet to five feet seven inches tall.
He was last seen holding a gun walking south on Glenn Street towards Howard Street.
