Christopher Gaudet, 36, was wanted on suspicion of being released on bail. At approximately 5:30 p.m., VicPD officers located Gaudet in a suite in a 1900-square-foot apartment building on Ashgrove Street. Gaudet left the house on foot and was located and arrested by members of the Greater Victoria Emergency Team in the area of Shakespeare Street and Gladstone Avenue. Police said officers used a powerful distraction device during the arrest. There were no injuries during the arrest. On Thursday, Gaudet was the subject of a nationally wanted warrant. It carries a federal penalty of more than three years for possession of a firearm contrary to a restraining order, abduction while using a firearm and possession of a controlled substance for trafficking purposes. He remains in custody.
