Live analysis Manchester City – Liverpool! – By Joe Prince-Wright at the Etihad

90th minute, and Mahrez won a free kick from a distance out. It looked like it was cut on the outside of the post. Luis Diaz for Liverpool. Riyad Mahrez in City. All this is becoming rather tense now. Salah goes sideways, then Jes .s shoots out with De Bruyne wanting to pull the ball back. This is from end to end. NO GOALS! Rahim Sterling finished but was just offside. After VAR control, the goal is canceled. Still 2-2. This game is a mess. OPPORTUNITY! Salah has taken over this game now. He shoots at Jota, but his shot is blocked by Anderson. Everything is Liverpool. City did not go to the second half. Salah plays perfect ball to birthday boy Sadio Mane and makes it 2-2 in less than a minute! @LFCUSA 📺: @USA_Network & @Telemundo #MCILIV | #MyPLMorning pic.twitter.com/j9o14Vbv0u – NBC Sports Soccer (@NBCSportsSoccer) April 10, 2022 GOAL! What a start in the second half. Santo Mane makes it 2-2 in the first minute. Mohamed Salah with a brilliant turn and pass for assists and Mane kicked the goal. So easy for Liverpool to cross City there. What. A game. 🚨ΓΓΟΛ! It is already Manchester City 2-2 Liverpool. Wow. This game is crazy. City took the lead through De Bruyne, then Jota equalized after an aristocratic move. However, City was much better as the halftime continued and deservedly Gabriel Jesούςs is ahead. Wow. Sometimes the big games do not work, but it does. Great time. We have another 45 minutes of this! Time to refresh your popcorn, guys… Aymeric Laporte with one of the best recent tackles you will ever see to deny Diogo Jota. How did he do that! It all came from a moment of hesitation on the part of Rodri, as Liverpool remain dangerous at the break. What a game. You can not take your eyes off it. You just can not. Every time I look down to type it in the box, I have to look back. It is chaos. GOAL! What a ball from Joao Cancello, and Jesus stays on the sidelines to hit the house on the back post. 2-1 for Manchester City! They deserve this lead. They were great. Especially Cancelo. CLOSE! Joao Cancello smashes a low shot that hits the crossbar. City enjoys a lot of fun playing more directly behind Alexander-Arnold and Robertson. WIDE! Joao Cancello played from the top and manages to hit Kevin de Bruyne, but his shot hits the crossbar. City roll with the gears here as the ball hits, but John Stones can’t get to the end of it. Liverpool seem to be a real threat at the break. Anderson is very close to allowing an own goal. 😅 📺: @USA_Network & @Telemundo #MCILIV | #MyPLMorning pic.twitter.com/5cThtvNJl4 – NBC Sports Soccer (@NBCSportsSoccer) April 10, 2022 Anderson, without real pressure, almost puts the ball in his net. Jota was so close to turning it inwards. Huge sighs of relief among the home fans. What a start for the game! It took less than 10 minutes for Liverpool to find the equalizer through Jota! 📺: @USA_Network & @Telemundo #MCILIV | #MyPLMorning pic.twitter.com/TTQLEjiazw – NBC Sports Soccer (@NBCSportsSoccer) April 10, 2022 GOAL! 1-1! Jota finishes after a great cross by Robertson who was beautifully beaten by Alexander-Arnold. What a beginning. This huge toy is delivered early! GOAL! 1-0! Manchester City! Kevin de Bruyne’s shot went wide of the post and hit the post. The city is unbridled. What a start in this game. 🔵🔥 A few moments after the denial of Rahim Sterling by Allison, Kevin de Bruyne puts Manchester City ahead early! Huge divers in his shot, but the majority of the fans here in the Etihad Stadium do not care. Wow. What a start. # MCFC 1-0 #LFC #MCILIV pic.twitter.com/pDh8O44hex – Joe Prince-Wright (@JPW_NBCSports) April 10, 2022 SAVE! Allison did a great job of denying Rahim Sterling, who was clean and six yards out, but the Liverpool goalkeeper stood up to deny him. Gabriel Jesούςs has started on the right, Rahim Sterling from the middle and Phil Fontaine on the left. Interesting. Sterling seems to be focusing on Joel Matip. The volume hangs in the air. The news of the team is very interesting here… Liverpool goes with Jota, Mane and Salah at the top. This was their best front trio all season. Man City tops the list with Raheem Sterling, Foden and De Bruyne. On the bench are Grialis and Mahrez. Welcome to the Etihad Stadium! Wonderful building atmosphere. 🔵🔴 Welcome to the Etihad Stadium! PREVIEW

Manchester City are at the top of the Premier League standings, but are just one point ahead of Liverpool with eight games to go in the season. The reigning champions of Pep Guardiola seemed to be leaving the title this season, but they have stumbled a bit in recent weeks and Liverpool’s impressive form has created this potentially decisive title. The big question for Guardiola is how much will the absence of Ruben Dias affect his team in this conflict, plus who will he really choose to start in midfield and attack? It’s full of choices in these areas and only Kevin de Bruyne and Phil Foden seem guaranteed beginners right now. It’s time for Pep Guardiola to prove, once again, how good he is. As for Jürgen Klopp and Liverpool, they fly perfectly. They face Manchester City at Wembley in the FA Cup semi-final next weekend, while they could also meet City in the Champions League final and Klopp enjoys these challenges against Pep. In fact, there is a lot of respect between these two coaches and their teams are so set up with their style of play, but they are both brilliant. Liverpool have won 10 games in the Premier League since the return of this clash and have won in recent weeks to be dragged back into the title debate. Can Mohamed Salah and Santo Mane make one of their epic appearances? They will have to do it if Liverpool are to overtake City and take the initiative in the title race before the last month or so of the season. Follow @JPW_NBCSports
