One person was killed as a result of the shootings and has been identified as 30-year-old Brandon Brooks from Toronto. The full text of the announcement is as follows: Members of the Ontario Provincial Police Crime Unit (OPP) Manitoulin Squad and the Manitoulin Anishnaabe Police Crime Unit (UCCM) Joint Chiefs of Staff have now filed charges of murder in connection with a M shooting at First Nation. On April 5, 2022, at approximately 1:30 a.m., UCCM, Manitoulin OPP, and Sudbury-Manitoulin Paramedic Services responded to a Pine Street home about a man who had been shot and later died of his injuries. The deceased was identified as Brandan BROOKS, 30, of Toronto. The defendants remain in custody with a court appearance scheduled for April 19, 2022 at the Ontario Court in Gore Bay.
