Wednesday’s update puts the total number of confirmed COVID cases in Michigan at 2,393,265, including 35,776 deaths.

Change in COVID data updates

Going forward, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services provides updated data for COVID only on Wednesdays. These data now combine confirmed and possible cases and deaths, which is the reason for the big jump in the totals between the last update and Wednesday. Confirmed and possible statistics had previously been segregated throughout the pandemic. The total cases on Friday were reported as 2,080,612 cases and 32,863 deaths, but if the possible cases were included, these would be a total of 2,389,506 cases and 35,706 deaths. Due to this significant change in state data reports, our previous charts and COVID charts will no longer be updated. one D Also, the MDHHS no longer reports the subset of deaths detected through the Vital Records review.
