He was 78. OCM confirmed his death to CTV News. In a statement on Facebook, the OCM leaders expressed their condolences to the Brott family and the shock of the death of “their beloved Maestro”. “The entire OCM family is in a state of distrust,” the OCM said in a statement. “Boris Brott was the beating heart of the Orchester Classique de Montréal, a famous leader in the world of classical music in North America and beyond, a mentor to countless young musicians and a much-loved friend to so many. His sudden death is over. thus a deep void in our music community and a deep sadness in our personal lives “. Hamilton police said Tuesday they were called to the scene of the collision where a driver allegedly drove to the wrong side of the road. A 78-year-old man was said to have been hit around 10:20 a.m. and taken to hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. Three police officers, as well as the suspect arrested at another location, were injured and taken to hospital. Ontario police, the Special Investigation Unit, are now investigating the incident. “That’s not the way to die. And you’re thinking, ’78, well, that’s not a bad run.’ “And to go that way. Too hard,” said Montreal music critic Arthur Captain. Brott, a Ukrainian-Canadian, was considered a leader in the world of classical music not only in Montreal but beyond. He was also a mentor to young musicians. The Captain said he had built a friendly relationship with Broth over the years. “He knew I would say exactly how I felt about the show. And I knew he would call me and talk to me about my comments, most of which were favorable. I dare say that this kind of personal communication approach is rare.” said the Captain. “It’s something I think he projected to all his audience and to all the people who listened to him in concert. He was not a distant, simple figure on the podium. It was the opposite of that. And so he built a career that will not be forgotten.” Brot was the founder of the Hamilton Brot Music Festival and was also an Officer of the Order of Canada and a member of the Order of Ontario that had appeared for royal members and the Pope. Hamilton Mayor Fred Eisenberger praised Brott’s musical gifts and the promotion of the city of Ontario in a statement. “Boris has brought Hamilton a sense of style and elegance like no other and he has guided so much talent,” he said. “Boris loved and was devoted to Hamilton and his people, and we loved him even more. It was this mutual love that led Boris to be voted one of the best Hamilton of all time.” Last month, he attended a concert in solidarity with the Ukrainian community of Montreal in response to the Russian invasion. Brott told CTV News on February 15 that he hoped the concert would leave a lasting impression on the audience. “This variety of different music that people will hear tonight, especially Ukrainian music, will hit a string that will respond and take a walk outside of this thing. [saying] “Well, of course Ukraine should be special,” he said before the show. Brott was to lead a concert with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra at a Tribute to Ukraine concert on April 20, with all proceeds going to the Canadian Red Cross and Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal for Crisis.
