A large part of Mutley Plain was blocked this morning, which has caused traffic problems throughout the city. Two smaller benches remain in place at this time, but only include the sidewalk and some shops. The blockade, from Seaton Avenue to Alexandra Road, originally covered part of the road – but this has been removed and a smaller section removed with tape – part of a lane leading out of Plymouth has been blocked. On one side of the street the shops are closed from The Fortescue Pub to the Oggy Oggy store. Across the street, there is a lane from the Stephanie Nicole store to the Domino’s takeaway. The road closure was lifted to restore traffic and buses. Read more: Train lines reopen after a fatal accident in Plymouth The traffic and travel system, Inrix, reports that the road closed shortly before 6 a.m. and reopened around 7:20 p.m. Devon and Cornwall police remain in the area, with a tent guard. The Inrix reports: “The Mutley Plain Northbound has reopened, a police raid from B3214 Alexandra Street to Seaton Avenue. Sensors indicate that the road was fully open at around 7.20am.” Earlier in the day, Plymouth Citybus explained that one of its services had been affected by the closure of Peverell Park. Citybus posted an update on Twitter at 7.40am, confirming that the buses were now operating normally. He said: “After a previous police incident and the closure of Mutley Plain, the buses will be up and running. Road already under construction. “ Devon and Cornwall police contacted for comment.
