Pelozi, the leading Democratic House, is 82 years old. As Speaker of Parliament, Pelozi is the second in a series of presidential successions behind the Vice President. Hamil announced the positive result of Pelosi test shortly before Pelozi was scheduled to have the weekly press conference with the journalists, which was canceled. He also said that the scheduled congressional delegation to Asia, led by Pelosi, would be “postponed to a later date” during the two-week break in Congress. Hammill said Pelosi is currently asymptomatic. He added that Pelosi came out negative earlier this week. Pelosi was in the White House on Wednesday with President Joe Biden as he signed into law a sweeping bill that revises U.S. Postal Service finances and allows the agency to modernize its service. The House doctor told CNN that attendees on Wednesday should have had a negative test within 24 hours of the postal event. The White House said Biden was not considered in close contact with Pelosi. The White House also said that the President was negative on Wednesday night as part of the scheduled scheduled tests and that Biden will continue to be checked regularly. Representatives include Kathryn Clark of Massachusetts, who also serves as the Democratic leader in the House of Representatives, Joaquin Castro of Texas, Gregory Micks of New York, Adam Siff of California, Demerne of California Debbie Wasserman Schultz of Florida and Scott Peters of California announced their test results this week. Covid also influences officials in Washington beyond the legislature. Two members of Biden’s cabinet tested positive for Covid-19 on Wednesday. Attorney General Merrick Garland and Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo announced their positive diagnoses after attending the select Gridiron Club dinner in Washington on Saturday. Other attendees, including Kamala Harris Vice President of Communications Jamal Simmons and President’s sister Valerie Biden Owens, also tested positive. The series of positive cases drew attention to Washington at the Gridiron dinner, an event that brings together some of the city’s most prominent journalists, including CNN, and the government officials they cover. Participants had their vaccination status checked, but did not need to enter negative Covid-19 tests. This is not the first time that someone close to Pelosi has tested positive for Covid. Last month, Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin, known as Taoiseach, tested positive for Covid while attending a gala in Washington, DC. Pelosi was seen sitting next to Martin at the gala in a photo from the event. In July 2021, a senior aide to Pelosi’s office tested positive for Covid.
