NAPA, California – A North Bay physiotherapist pleaded guilty Wednesday to selling fake COVID vaccination cards and immunosuppressive pills, the Department of Justice has announced. Federal investigators said Juli Mazi, 41, was falsifying vaccination cards to show that customers had received the Moderna vaccine. “Julie Mazi has admitted she was involved in a plot to sell fake health records to her clients,” said U.S. Attorney Stephanie M. Hinds. “Mazi won by selling counterfeit vaccination cards that it knew would be used to mislead schools into believing that students had been vaccinated against childhood diseases as required by law. Mazi also sold counterfeit vaccination cards for COVID-19 that indicate gave the Moderna vaccine to its customers when, in fact, it did not. “ According to court documents, the Office of the Ministry of Health and Human Services received information in April 2021 that Mazi was selling covalent vaccine pellets which it claimed would provide lifelong protection against COVID-19. Mazi also provided fake CDC COVID-19 vaccination cards with instructions on how to fill out the cards to make them look like Moderna vaccine records, authorities said. Federal investigators have learned that Mazi had sold counterfeit vaccination cards to more than 200 people. Mazi pleaded guilty to one count of fraud and one count of making false statements about healthcare. He is expected to be sentenced in July 2022. Mazi faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison for the charge of fraud through remittances and 5 years for the charge of false statements.
