The new Active Investor Plus visa will replace the old investor visa categories and require immigrants to make investments in New Zealand businesses, Economic and Regional Development Minister Stuart Nash said. He said the old visas often resulted in migrants investing in stocks and bonds rather than directly in New Zealand companies. Eligibility criteria for the new visa include a minimum investment of NZ$5 million ($3.1 million), and only 50% of that can be invested in listed shares. The visa category will open on 19 September 2022. ($1 = NZ$1.6033) Sign up now for FREE unlimited access to Reuters.com Register Report by Lucy Craymer.
