Photo by Parker Tobin Memorial Fund The New Earth Tobin family will celebrate the fourth anniversary of the Humboldt Broncos tragedy quietly together again this year. On April 6, 2018, a tractor tractor hit a bus carrying members of the Saskatchewan team, killing 16 people and injuring 13 others. Among the dead was goalkeeper Parker Tobin, who had deep roots in Conception Bay North and Trinity Bay. Ed’s father, who grew up in Bay Roberts, says the family is overwhelmed by the support he has received since the tragedy. He says the money they have received from supporters and well-wishers has been donated to a Parker Tobin Memorial Fund and used to help young goalkeepers and other hockey players with equipment costs and participation in the game. He says Parker was well aware of the cost of the game and that inspired them to create the fund. Tobin says meeting the players and their families, who have always been very grateful, was a big part of their healing process. This year’s recipient is St. Ethan McKay of St. Louis. George’s.
