It’s no secret that the Green Bay Packers need to add a lot of wide receivers this off-season, especially after the Davante Adams trade. Many expect the Packers to plan a wide out with one of their two options in the first round, but Green Bay also still works for a free agency. On Thursday, the Packers agreed to agree with former No. 4 overall receiver Sammy Watkins on a one-year, $ 4 million deal per ESPN. Watkins spent the 2021 season with the Baltimore Ravens, catching 27 passes for 394 yards and one touchdown in 13 games played. With eight NFL seasons under his belt, Watkins is just 28 years old and still has the kind of speed abroad that could benefit Aaron Rodgers. Watkins hit the run when he was selected by the Buffalo Bills in 2014, catching 65 assists for 982 yards and six touchdowns in rookie season. His second season would be his best, as Watkins caught 60 passes for 1,047 yards of top career and an impressive nine touchdowns in just 13 games played. Watkins traded with the Los Angeles Rams in 2017 and spent a season in Los Angeles before signing with the Kansas City Chiefs. Watkins caught just eight touchdowns in three seasons with the Chiefs, but picked up a Super Bowl ring to cover the 2019 campaign. in three playoff games. Even with that signing, expect the Packers to take a side out in the first round later this month. All five of our CBS Sports NFL Draft experts have Green Bay get at least one receiver in the first round.
