Police responded to reports of a man with a shotgun approaching a house at Driftwood 1 in Derry around 2:15 a.m. Saturday. According to New Hampshire Attorney General John M. Formella, a 43-year-old Christopher Coppola had shot at a resident. Coppola was a resident of 5 Driftwood Street and was shot by police officers who responded to the active scene on Saturday. Formella said three officers dropped their weapons during the incident. No officers were injured. Formella said the officers who responded did not have body cameras, but investigators will look into whether the cruiser’s cameras recorded any part of the incident. The names of the officers involved in the shooting are being withheld in anticipation of the completion of the official interview. According to Formella, an autopsy will be performed Sunday morning to determine the cause and manner of Coppola’s death. The investigation is ongoing and no further details have been released.
