Lyudmila Denisova told the BBC that the victims – aged between 14 and 24 – were attacked after being found “in the basement of a house in Butsa”, the brutal suburb of the capital Kiev where hundreds of bodies were later found on the street. “Russian soldiers told them they would rape them to the point where they would not want to have sex with any man, to prevent them from having children from Ukraine,” the human rights ombudsman told the station. Some of the rapist soldiers even hit in public to send a warning to others who were watching, officials said on Tuesday. “A 25-year-old called to tell us that her 16-year-old sister was raped on the street in front of her. “She said they were screaming, ‘This is going to happen to any Nazi prostitute’ as they raped her sister,” Denisova said. The horrific bills are only the most recent to emerge from the war, with much more likely to come out, the official said. The human rights official also gave regular updates to the Telegram, saying on Wednesday that at least 191 children had been confirmed dead during the invasion, an average of at least five a day – but with the actual report probably much higher.
