In March, Brooklyn police began investigating allegations of sexual assault following a report from a Brooklyn resident, officials said. In an interview Monday, the victim told the Norfolk County Attorney’s Office that her social media teacher attacked her sixth and seventh graders, beginning in 2016 when she was 12 and he was 31. He said the attacks continued until the end of school. year 2018, with the majority of them reportedly taking place in a classroom at Heath School in Brooklyn. After the interview, officials confirmed that Larry Chen, 36, of Newton, was a teacher at Brooklyn Public School at the time, and issued a warrant for his arrest on charges of aggravated rape, rape of a child under 16 years old and the obscene attack and battery of a child under 14 years old. Chen was arrested on Monday and charged with 18 counts in each case. He was held on $ 10,000 bail. Chen resigned from the district in 2018 and has been working as a teacher ever since, officials said. Brookline School Principal Linus Guillory said Chen also worked as a seasonal employee in the city’s leisure department last summer and that school officials learned of the allegations Tuesday. “As the trial progresses, however, we are deeply concerned about these allegations and are committed to providing our full co-operation in the investigation into these allegations. “Our primary concern is always the safety and well-being of our students and school counselors are available to help students,” Gigilori said.
