Romello Thomas, 25, suffered serious injuries, Omaha police reported, after the 2011 Nissan Altima he was driving collided with a 2006 Chevrolet Tahoe. The incident occurred at about 1 p.m. at 72nd Street and Military Avenue. The Tahoe, driven by Kendall Leavy, 20, of Omaha, was westbound on Military Avenue when Thomas turned out of a business driveway onto Military Avenue, also westbound. Police said Thomas did not yield to Leavy. The vehicles collided when the Tahoe struck the Nissan on the driver’s side. Both vehicles then impacted a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by 57-year-old Mark Shore, of Omaha, who was stopped in a turn lane on 72nd Street, heading southbound. Thomas was transported to Nebraska Medical Center, where he died, according to police. Leavy suffered serious injuries and was transported to CHI Health Immanuel. Shore and an unnamed passenger were uninjured.
