Crews were called to the Marine way and River District Crossing at rush hour. A person driving a green Honda Accord with an Alberta license plate was killed in the incident. Blaze Wiebe, a passenger in the vehicle behind Honda, said there was no warning that a tree was about to fall. “It was not raining or anything like that,” Wiebe said. “Basically in two seconds, a tree started coming down.” He said that when he went to check on the driver of the Honda, he could not hear anything. According to Vancouver Fire and Rescue Assistant Chief of Staff Brian Bertuzzi, the dead man was the only one in Honda at the time. A second vehicle with two people was damaged, but people in the car were not injured, he added. This is a growing story at CTV News Vancouver and will be updated as more information becomes available.
