Of the 1,074 people hospitalized with COVID-19, 46 percent were admitted for the virus, while 54 percent were admitted for other reasons but tested positive for COVID-19. Of the 168 people in ICUs with the virus, 70% were admitted due to COVID, while 30% were admitted for other reasons.

Ontario, meanwhile, also reported 3,444 new laboratory-confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, though that underestimates the true spread of the virus due to testing restrictions.
