Ontario Public Health reports 230 confirmed cases of monkeypox in the province. The agency said the vast majority of cases are in Toronto with 172 infections in the city. Public health said most cases are among men who report close contact with men, but say anyone can get monkeypox and that one of the confirmed cases is in a woman. The report said nine people have been hospitalized with the disease and one person is in intensive care. Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Kieran Moore, said recently that monkeypox will likely be around for many months because of the long incubation period, but noted that the province is not seeing rapid growth of the virus.
