An investigation into Laura’s death is currently underway in Truro. On the morning of the first day, the hearing was heard by several witnesses who saw Laura being slapped in the face after an argument on the street a few hours before the oss incident – a large hobby horse with an oval frame that parades through the city.
Before being hit by the oss, the “polite and caring” Laura was described as acting “without character” and turning her back on her, something she and her fellow Padstow natives are taught not to do from an early age.

Following the postponement of the lunch, the investigation heard Kevin Constance, the person inside the oss when he hit Laura that May Day.
Mr. Constance said he was born and raised in Padstow and has been the honorary secretary of Obby Oss for about 22 years.
Asked to describe Obby Oss, he said: “May Day means more to us than Christmas Day and employees will tell you that they prefer to work at Christmas rather than May Day. It’s a family celebration and people come from all over Padstow. “It’s nice to see them and shake hands.”
Mr. Constance and Cornwall Senior Medical Examiner Andrew Cox went on to explain that the oss is together, explaining that the oss is a dress with a dress, has straps underneath and a hat. Following is a teaser in the city on a largely predetermined route. Mr Constance added that only locals were allowed to carry the bone.
He said that day that he had gone with his family, drank only two drinks, before being asked if he would go inside the oss.

When asked what happened next, Mr Constance said: “Everything was fine until for some reason I felt like I was going backwards. I do not know how many rhythms but not many then I fell. It does not happen very often, but it happened in this case.
“I did not know I was beating anyone. “There was a lot of space around me.”
He said he was then helped to his feet by his brother who was the teaser at the time and the procession continued to the war memorial, which he visited as part of Obby Oss’s 100th anniversary celebrations.
Mr Constance added: “My brother Seamus and Dan came and took me by the hand and pulled me away and we left again. I was completely unaware of any contact. “If there was a time when we knew the girl had problems, we would have stopped everything and tried to help.”
Mr Constance said he did see some riot at Stile Field afterwards, but assumed it was nothing serious. He was later notified of what had happened and spoke to police.
Obby Oss takes place every May Day in Padstow
Mr Constance said that after Laura’s death, some things have changed in May Day celebrations, including more effective management to ensure oss does not come into contact with other, closed roads, more doctors on hand and a stronger assessment. risk.
Concluding the first day of the investigation, Mr Constance said: “I can express my sincere condolences to the family. “This is not something I wanted to happen.”
The interrogation will continue on Wednesday.
