SYLVA, NC – A 3-year-old girl was killed after being dragged over Whitewater Falls near Cashiers, NC, about 60 miles from Asheville. Jackson County Emergency Management received a call to 911 around 5:50 p.m. on Sunday by someone who reported that a little girl was “dragged into the water at the top of the waterfalls” and taken away by the current, the sheriff’s office said. The U.S. Forest Service describes Whitewater Falls as the tallest waterfall east of the Rocky Mountains, sinking about 411 feet (125 meters)....

Police were called to a bowling alley on Block 10000 of Tecumseh Road East near Forest Glade Drive at 1 a.m. Saturday after a group of people got into a fight. While on the road to the call, police said shots were heard and several people were injured. Police and EMS responded to the scene where all five victims were taken to hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries. According to the police, it is believed that the incident came from a fight that took place inside the bowling alley earlier that night....
