Mark, a father of three from Little Stoke, was driving across Bush Avenue Sunday night (April 10) when he noticed a pile of black smoke that he thought was a fire. As he approached, he realized that the entire lower floor of the house was on fire.

Within minutes Mark jumped out of his car where a woman had stuck her head out of a rooftop window in panic. “I need your help to get the kids out,” they told him. He grabbed the baby and passed it to a neighbor. “At this point another man had come, he was taller than me,” he said. The couple helped rescue a young boy from the building. “At this point the fire is raging,” Mark added. “I was quite worried that the windows would burst.” The boy fell under his feet and ankles, and Mark reached out and grabbed him, trying to avoid the broken glass on the windowsill. “Next was mom,” Mark said. “As she was taller, we were worried about how to catch her. We did not know how long we had at that stage, as the fire was burning wildly.” Mark encouraged the woman to sit on the windowsill, grab the window frame, and lower herself. “We just broke her fall, lowered her safely and as fast as we could. Then we alerted the house next door, knocking on their door to make sure she was out.” Mark managed to save the family from the burning building before the side windows were “extinguished” and the fire service arrived. “By the time we got them out, the fire was quite strong,” he continued. He says he is happy he could have helped alleviate the fact that the family was not seriously injured. “He got home somehow,” he said. “They were just in the right place at the right time, I just wanted to help them. The most important thing is that everyone is safe.” Since then, Mark has been praised for “saving children ‘s lives”, intervening to help. Yesterday (Monday, April 11) the children’s father posted on Facebook: “I would like to say a huge thank you to the lads who caught my little girl and to the man who caught my son when Jade had to throw them out. of the bedroom window because the house was on fire. “I could never appreciate or tell you how grateful I am. You saved my children’s lives and I just want you to know that I am forever grateful to you. Thank you very much …” A fundraiser has since been set up to help the family, who have lost existing and emotional items. He says: “I have created this fundraiser for Jade, as I know this is something she would never think of doing or wanting to do. “Last night her house burned down in the flames and fortunately everyone did it, but unfortunately the existing and emotional objects did not do it. Now there is absolutely nothing left, no clothes, no house, nothing.” You can donate to the fundraiser here. Do you want our best stories with fewer ads and alerts when the big news falls?
