Penticton police are investigating a possible targeted shooting attempt early Monday morning in the city center. Cst. Dayne Lyons, a media associate with Penticton RCMP, said the incident took place on Westminster Avenue West. The investigation is ongoing, but police have reason to believe that one person was targeted at the time of the shooting. No injuries were reported, but a vehicle without passengers was hit by stray bullets. “The police continue to search the area and follow advice. We ask anyone who has cameras, bell cameras, car cameras 24/7, etc. in the area to check their systems for 3-6 am that day. “and contact the police if they catch anything suspicious,” Lyons said. Suspicious activity may involve unusual vehicles or people running or speeding in front of a car door or camera. And if a camera has a sound and has recorded the sounds of the shots, the police would be interested in checking the video. Lyons added that there is no reason to believe that there is a danger to the public at this time. Police are investigating the area and following instructions.
