Researchers are appealing to the public, especially in the Farsi and Arab-speaking communities, for information that could help them find a woman who was abducted from a house on Wasaga Beach in Od three months ago. Ontario provincial police say Elnaz Hajtamiri, 37, who immigrated to Canada from Iran less than four years ago, was abducted on the night of January 12. Det. Insp. Martin Graham said three men dressed in police uniforms forced their way into a house where relatives lived in Haitamiri and fled with her in a white Lexus RX sports car. “We can not even imagine the grief felt by her family members, who are half continent and half globe away from us here in Ontario, and the additional torment they do not know what happened to their daughter, their sister, their niece. their cousin, or why, “Graham told a news conference on Tuesday. “That’s why we are working hard to appeal for any information that will help resolve them.” In a touching appeal to Farsi, Hajtamiri’s mother, Fariba Hajtamiri, said she did not know if her daughter was alive, but hoped anyone with information would show up. “We desperately need your help,” he said. “I beg you, as a mother, to guide us and tell us anything you know. Help us find Elnaz.” The OPP has set up a special information line on the case and is asking the public for any information that could help locate Hajtamiri. Graham said investigators believe those involved in a previous “unprotected attack” on Haitamiri on December 20, 2021, were either involved in its abduction or could identify those responsible. That December day, Graham said, Haithamiri was attacked and hit with a frying pan in an underground car park in Richmond Hill, OD, and then taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Graham said two male suspects fled the scene in a vehicle that had been stolen the night before at the northern tip of Toronto. Police said they have no information on a possible motive for the crimes and no ransom demand has been received at this time. Graham noted that Haitamiri’s ex-partner had been charged with criminal harassment on Jan. 22 at Wasaga Beach and that the matter was “before the courts.” He said the man had been released on bail and was scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday. Hajtamiri, also known as Tamiri, is described as five feet and three inches tall, with a slender build and black hair down to the shoulders that was cut to a shorter length before she was abducted, according to police.
