Staff at Leigh Elementary School in Washwood Heath seized the blade, believed to be a pocket knife, from the young man on Thursday last week (March 31). West Midlands police have launched an investigation into the incident following a complaint from the Leigh Road School. The student was “fired immediately” while the school is considering its next steps, the school confirmed. A West Midlands Police Officer is said to be working closely with the school. Read more:Watch – Amazing moment armed raiders break a truck through Ladypool Road jewelry stores A statement from the force read: “We are conducting a search after staff at Leigh Elementary School on Leigh Road in Washwood Heath seized a knife from a student on Thursday (March 31st). “We were told about it and the head of our school is working closely with the school staff to find out exactly what happened.” Leigh Elementary School has confirmed it is in contact with “relevant authorities”, including Birmingham City Council, to protect officials and police. A school spokesman said: “We can confirm that there was an incident that led to a student being expelled immediately as we look at the next steps.
