Police have asked the public to refrain from posting footage of the arrest of a man suspected of stabbing Mutley Plain. The material – which reveals a series of edited clips showing the chaotic and scary scene – has already been shared on Facebook and reposted by hundreds of social media users. A man in his 30s is currently in critical condition at Derryford Hospital following an alleged knife attack on Mutley Plain, near the Premier Shop, at around 2.50am. today. He was initially treated at the scene by paramedics, before being monitored by police and then paramedics. PlymouthLive understands that he suffered two to three stab wounds to his abdomen. He remains in hospital where his condition has been described as serious but not life threatening at the moment. The next video in the edited video shows police arresting the suspect – with two police officers pinning him to the ground and another nearby asking for further help. The screaming females are heard in much of the footage, which lasts almost four minutes. The person filming is trying to get the attention of the police to alert them to the injured person on the other side of the road. A voice calls for a medical kit. The filmmaker then tells police they are handcuffing the suspect while he is snuggling in the middle of the street that the suspect was in the Premier Shop threatening staff when he and his friend entered the store. He tells police that the suspect tried to stab his friend. He then informs the store staff – who at this stage are standing on the sidewalk and watching the scene – that he saved them from the attack.
