Emergency services were called to the Preston fire around 8pm on Friday. Lancashire police said three people were rescued from the building – a woman in her 20s, a five-year-old boy and a three-year-old girl. The two children are being treated in critical condition and the woman was also injured, but their lives are not considered to be in danger. The force said on Sunday that a 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of arson with the intention of endangering his life and was released under investigation, while the investigations continue. Chief Inspector Detective Graham Hill said: “Unfortunately the two children are still being treated for life-threatening injuries and we continue to keep them and their family in our thoughts at this terrible time. “A joint investigation with the Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service is ongoing and the fire is being treated as unexplained, while we are investigating the cause. “We continue to ask you if you have information about the incident and have not yet spoken to the police, contact us as soon as possible.” Anyone with information about the fire at Coronation Crescent is kindly requested to call 101, citing the April 8, 1305 calendar.
