They represent only one tenth of the 12,500 visas issued under the scheme three weeks after its launch. Another 31,000 Ukrainians are waiting for visas to be granted visas by the Home Office, having completed their forms with their hosts in the United Kingdom. The backlog has risen by more than 5,000 last week, while the weekly rate of visas issued has fallen by 2,000 despite ministers promising to streamline the process.
