On his Twitter account, Reggie Jackson expressed his anger after Khersow grabbed the hook. “Clayton Khershaw Perfect 80 court game, get him out !!!!! WHAT THE! What’s next for the game? ” demanded to know the legend of the Yankees. “[One] one of the best of the season, and you take him out with a perfect game in the 7th, beating the Dodgers 7-0. Take him out! THIS IS BASEBALL, PLEASE PEOPLE WHO HAVE NEVER PLAYED GET AWAY FROM HIS ROAD “ Jackson, 75, played in the MLB from 1967 to 1987, beating the famous three homers in a game for the Yankees in Game 6 of the 1977 World Series against the Dodgers. Reggie Jackson fired the Dodgers for pulling Clayton Khershaw into a perfect game. Bettmann Archive Fergie Jenkins, the Hall of Famer she played from 1965 to 1983, was on the same wavelength as Jackson. “Even if I had broken my arm and had to throw the ball over the plate, I leave a perfect game in the 7th,” Jenkins wrote on Twitter. ESPN baseball reporter Jeff Passan summed up the emotions of many, writing on Twitter that there have been over 220,000 games in MLB history – and just 23 perfect. “Everything – especially a number of 80 pitches – is written to at least let Kershaw try,” Passan wrote. “You can’t pull him.” Last year, Kershaw missed the playoffs with an injury to his forearm and continues to strengthen his ability to return to the mound. Clayton Kershaw said he supported the decision to take him out of the game after seven perfect appearances. Kershaw told reporters that while he would love to share the moment of the perfect game with his catcher, Austin Barnes, it would be an “individual” achievement. “It’s individual things. “These are selfish goals,” Kershaw said. “We are trying to win. That’s really just what we’re here for. As much as I would like to do it, I have thrown 75 pitches in a sim game. I had not gone to six innings, let alone seven. Definitely, I would love to do it. “Maybe we have another chance, who knows.” Kershaw was pressured if part of him wanted to fight to stay in the game. “I wish I had stayed longer, but bigger things, man,” he replied.
