This is exactly how it has been used by pro-Ukrainian pranksters. A video uploaded to social media this morning shows Boris Nemtsov Plaza, the embassy home, at night. The Ukrainian flag, vivid blue and yellow on a dark background, is displayed on the dense foliage of the trees to the right of the embassy. The flag, which was apparently radiating from the other side of the wide boulevard, is starting to hang to the left. He moves relentlessly towards the Russian embassy, reaching the upper left corner. The embassy is already lit by large, dim spotlights in the red, white and blue of the Russian flag – and a second, weaker Ukrainian flag, suggesting some farcical coordination. It is the strongest flag that causes the spying effort that made this video go viral. Up scans a white Russian spotlight, directly on the incoming Ukrainian flag. “They are trying to drown you,” comments one spectator. The military escort attempt is thwarted. The Ukrainian flag is so bright that the white spotlight is barely visible. Bravely, the Ukrainian flag makes a further invasion of Russian territory, adding to the injury with provocative blows up and down. The flag of Ukraine is now waving, dominating the white facade. When the Russian public spotlight seeks it, the Ukrainian flag flutters away. The 43-second clip ends with a loud laugh.
