On April 8, around 10:30 a.m., police responded to a report of a multi-vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 1 and West Shore Parkway. West Shore RCMP, Langford Fire and BC Ambulance Service monitored the call. When police arrived, a Volkswagen Golf was on fire, according to an RCMP press release. In all, seven vehicles were involved in the collision, including a dump truck, and several people were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The RCMP did not say exactly how many people, although on Friday it was reported that five people were taken to hospital. We are relieved that this collision has resulted in non-life-threatening injuries, especially in the event of a dump truck and vehicle fire, Const. Meghan Groulx, a spokeswoman for the West Shore RCMP, said in a press release. The causes of the collision are still under investigation and investigators are asking witnesses or anyone with a speed camera video to show up. Anyone with information is kindly requested to call the West Shore RCMP at (250) 474-2264.
