WEATHER REGISTRATION ENVIRONMENT CANADA ********************* Rainfall warning in force for:
Agawa – Lake Superior Park Sault Ste. Marie – St. Joseph Searchmont – Montreal River Port – Batchawana Bay
Heavy rain is expected to start this afternoon.
Hazards: Amounts of rainfall from 20 to 30 mm that can lead to local flooding in low altitude areas. Frosty soil has a reduced capacity to absorb this rainfall. Time: This afternoon until tonight. Discussion: Total amounts of rainfall from 20 to 30 mm will be possible until the rain decreases tonight or Thursday morning. Partly icy soil will have a reduced capacity to absorb this rainfall and local floods will be possible in low altitude areas. For information on flooding, consult your local Conservation Authority or the Ontario Ministry of Northern Development, Mines, Natural Resources, and Forestry. Visit Ontario.ca/floods for the latest details. Heavy rainfall can cause sudden flooding and water build-up on roads. Possible local floods in low altitude areas. Special weather declaration in force for:
Wawa – Pukaskwa Park White River – Dubreuilville
Heavy snowfall is expected to start this afternoon.
Dangers: Total snowfall from 10 to 15 cm, with possible locally higher amounts. Significantly reduced visibility in heavy snowfall at times. Time: From this afternoon and continues until Thursday. Consequences: Dangerous trip due to the rapid accumulation of snow. Significantly reduced visibility in heavy snowfall. If the rain mixes with the snow, the cloud leads to very slippery road conditions. Drivers are advised to be careful. Discussion: A low pressure system will affect the area on Thursday. Snow, which can be heavy at times, is expected with this system. Temperatures are expected to be close to freezing, which could allow rain to mix with snow this afternoon before turning to snow tonight. Snow warnings may be needed as the system approaches, however there is still a great deal of uncertainty about the type of rainfall, and therefore the amount of snow, at this time. Keep track of alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to [email protected] or send reports to Twitter using #ONStorm.
