Heavy snow fell in the mountains and continued to fall all day. The Westbound Interstate Highway 90 at milepost 106 near Ellensburg and the eastern I-90 at milepost 34 near North Bend were closed. At 5:03 p.m., the eastbound interstate opened again and at 8:58 p.m. Washington Department of Transportation crews reopened the freeway heading west. While road crews were working to reopen the Snoqualmie Pass at 5:57 p.m., multiple incidents and accidents closed the US 2 Stevens Pass heading west, which reopened later at 10:40 p.m. No injuries were reported in either pass. However, WSDOT reported that traction tires were required on the Stevens Pass. Drivers are also advised to leave plenty of space between cars while traveling on the roads.
