Snow is falling again in parts of Vancouver Island after Environment Canada warned of heavy snowfall on Tuesday morning. The Meteorological Agency says heavy snowfall is expected near the Campbell River and inland Vancouver Island this morning and early afternoon. Heavy snow also began to fall in areas around Nanaimo and Greater Victoria around 7 a.m. In Greater Victoria, snowflakes began to thicken around 8:30 a.m. while they also began to stick to the ground. The Canadian environment suggests that snow levels could reach up to five inches in some areas, especially around the Campbell River and East Vancouver Island. Areas near the water, such as Comox, are expected to see wet snow change to rain near noon as southeast winds in the Georgia Straits intensify and temperatures rise, according to Environment Canada. In areas away from the water there will be more accumulation and snow will probably fall until Tuesday afternoon. The road is heavy, the snow is collecting, it is water sliding it is awful. “I will not return tonight, I will stay in the city,” said Henry Beaulac, a Gold River resident. Up to 15 to 20 inches of snow is believed to have fallen in the area, blocking many on the side of the road, while others jumped off ditches and trapped large platforms as conditions quickly became dangerous. Rick Hickey, a Gold River resident who drove along Highway 28, said there are about 15 to 20 cm on the ground. “There are probably six cars in the ditch on the road,” he said. Trucker Lawrence Kain, lured while waiting for snow machines, and even with chains, the snowy hills turned too much to go to his home in Ladysmith. “It’s a challenge, okay. “Very provocative,” he said. A winter wonderland. Only it is April 12! At # yyyy! It is snowing now for 90 minutes and no sign that it will stop. #bcstorm pic.twitter.com/vht39g3Ifc – Mary Griffin (@Mary_Griffin_) April 12, 2022 All you can do is laugh, I guess.
