Police say it started just before 2pm – a man in the corner was gesturing back and forth to someone across the street. “The gentleman on the east side of the street pulls out a gun and fires his gun to the west,” said NYPD chief McCormack. These bullets hit three innocent teenagers on their way home from school – a 17-year-old boy was shot along with two 16-year-old girls. One of the girls did not survive. Many, including the Most Reverend Oswald Denis in the Rehoboth Christian Church, cannot understand violence. “The shootings are horrible, they are terrible. We have to take our guns out on the street and the bad guys,” said Father Dennis. For those who watched the scene unfold, there was anger – and sadness as another life was lost. Researchers are looking for the weapon and the intended target.
