In a statement, the Integrated Murder Investigation Team identified the victim of the shooting as 33-year-old David Goldstein, from White Rock. Goldstein was seriously injured during the shooting at his home near the intersection of 24th Avenue and 152A at around 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, according to IHIT. Shortly after the shooting, police said the victim had been taken to hospital for treatment but was not expected to survive. Goldstein succumbed to his injuries on Friday, IHIT reported. Homicide investigators are working with the Surrey RCMP, the Integrated Forensic Identification Section and the BC Coroners Service to gather evidence for the case. Investigators say the shooting “does not seem accidental”, but is not linked to a gang clash in Kato Sterea. Police are asking anyone who knew Goldstein or what was going on at the home where the shooting took place to contact them. They are also looking for video surveillance or dashboard camera recorded in the area during the shootings. “We are trying to create an event schedule,” said IHIT spokesman Sgt. David Lee in the statement. “We ask Mr Goldstein’s associates to come forward and provide basic information on this research.” CTV News spoke with residents of the neighborhood on the day of the shooting, including a man renting a bedroom in the house at 24 Avenue, where the shots were heard. He said he was awakened by two gunshots. When he entered the common area of the house, he said, a woman ducked for cover and screamed for someone to call 911. He did not see the victim, but told CTV News that he believed he was one of his roommates. Wendy Poustie, who lives nearby, told CTV News that she also heard a gunshot the morning of the incident and later saw a car speeding away from the area. Anyone with information to share should contact IHIT at 877-551-4448 or [email protected], police said.
