The historic Axiom 1 crew docked at the International Space Station (ISS) Harmony space port on Saturday morning after delays. The soft arrest was confirmed at 8:29 a.m. ET and the connection was reported as “complete” at 8:41 a.m. ET. The success came after a few minutes for the space flight due to a problem with the station’s video routing. The Crew Dragon Endeavor was originally expected to dock at 7:45 p.m. ET, but was kept 20 meters away from the station as the station crew worked to address the problem. AXIOM SPACE FOR THE FIRST START OF THE PRIVATE MISSION TO THE ISS: “THE PRINCIPLE OF MANY PRINCIPLES” NASA live broadcast said the crew could have been stationed at this location for about two hours. The Dragon Endeavor hatch was previously expected to open around 9:30 p.m. ET, with a welcoming ceremony taking place shortly after. The Ax-1, the first all-private crew mission to the orbiting lab, was launched from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida at 11:17 a.m. ET Friday with a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket. The crew of the 10-day flight includes former NASA astronaut Michael López-Alegría and passengers paying Larry Connor, Mark Pathy and Eytan Stibbe. The three businessmen paid $ 55 million one piece. The astronauts will take part in a multidisciplinary science program, including a storm observation experiment first started by Ilan Ramon, who died on the Columbia bus in 2003. “They are not up there to stick their noses in the window,” said Axiom co-founder and president Michael Suffredini, a former NASA space station program director, in a statement.
