Jessica L. McCammon, 42, faces charges of first-degree murder, armed crime, falsification of physical evidence and distribution of a controlled substance. A judge ordered his detention without bail. Dan Myers, 52, disappeared on March 22. His body was found in a wooded area at 10000 block of North Farm Road 167 on Wednesday near Pleasant Hope. Investigators say their drivers drove to the site. Erica’s mom, Debbie, has been dating Meyers for the past four years. “We do not have this closure yet to believe that it is indeed gone,” says Erica. “It’s hard to believe that. I mean, how could anyone hate someone so much that they would do that. “ He says the week before he disappeared, Dan raised some red flags at the family. “He was worried he was going to die,” says Debbie. “That someone was out to kill him and I do not know exactly why.” When they did not hear from him, they were worried that something bad had happened to him. Erica says other family members thought she might have been hiding. “I had this gut, like my mom,” says Erika. “Why should he send us these texts and say them and worry and misunderstand and then suddenly he left like that. “I felt that something was wrong.” On Sunday, Erica and Debbie came to Springfield and spoke to Jessica McCamon, the woman now blamed for Myers’ death. After this conversation, Erica says that they felt that she was involved in his death. “We did not like the way he referred to Dan in the past,” says Erica. “Like ‘he had this’ or ‘he would like this’, and I just did not understand it.” Erica says Dan was like a father to her. The loss they feel without him is difficult to explain. “I have never seen my mom so happy,” says Erika. “I guess you could say she was an engineer and she was a nurse and they just got together and fell in love and it’s a very nice love. You only find it once in a lifetime. “ He is described as someone who was hardworking, loved motorcycles and just had fun being around. But most importantly, Erica says he was devoted to his family. “Dan was the type of person where, if you didn’t have a good day or anything, he could just walk home and start with that funny laugh he had,” says Erika. McCammon is scheduled to appear in court on April 25. To report a correction or typographical error, please email [email protected] Copyright 2022 KY3. All rights reserved.
