The Township of Springwater launches a new pilot project to improve the balance of professional and personal life of its employees. The Springwater council voted Wednesday unanimously to introduce a four-day weekly work for a five-month trial period from April 25. Municipal office hours are extended to make up for lost time. The staff of the municipality will work more days from Monday to Thursday or Tuesday to Friday, ensuring that there are 35-40 hours per week. Springwater is on the growing list of other Ontario communities that have a four-day workweek. “In approaching staff in these communities, they learned about the many benefits of the four-day workweek, from boosting retention and staffing to improved employee morale, increased productivity and reduced absenteeism,” Township wrote in Press release. Friday. The pilot program is part of the Flexible Work Regulation Policy for the Municipality. “The COVID-19 pandemic was a real boost to the world of work,” said Jeff Schmidt, CAO Township. “We listened to our employees last year and we heard how they want and need more flexibility to better take care of their mental health. “Our goal with this test is to further establish a culture where we celebrate balance with increased flexibility and confidence, resulting in happier and more productive employees.” The Municipality Administration Center will be open from 8:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday during this trial period.
