Mayor John Tory announced Sunday that the annual gastronomic event will continue this summer from August 12th to August 28th.
“I’m glad that Summerlicious – the gourmet favorite of the city – will be back in August,” Tory said in a written statement released Sunday.
“While restaurants have been hit hard by this pandemic, we have not stopped finding new and innovative ways to support these business owners and keep people working – including this free and enhanced Summerlicious program. With incredible restaurants throughout Toronto and a variety of cuisine to choose from, there is something for everyone. “I encourage Torontoans to continue to support and celebrate the revival of Toronto restaurants, safely joining friends and eating locally to try the different gastronomic offerings that Toronto restaurants have to offer.”
Summerlicious, together with the Winterlicious winter food festival, started in 2003.
The city says this year ‘s program, along with the revamped CafeTO program, will help support the recovery of Toronto’ s restaurant industry.
To facilitate participation, the city says it will waive fees for all participating restaurants, offer restaurants more flexibility to set menus and price points, and have a simplified online application.
Applications will be accepted from April 14 to April 29 and entrants will be confirmed in mid-May.
