Police said the incident happened around 5pm when a Cobb County police officer tried to catch the man. Investigators said the officer pulled the man into his car when the man pointed a gun and the officer shot him. Cobb police said the man was wanted for shooting a police officer Sunday at Cumberland Mall. MOVIE STORIES: Jennifer Barrera was climbing the bridge with her family as they watched the whole thing unfold. “I heard sirens and looked in my side mirror of the truck and saw all the Cobb County SUVs behind me with their lights and sirens. “And then I saw a small truck in front of them and I saw an old man getting out of the truck and starting to run across the road,” Barrera said. “I was somewhat distracted by all the police who were running across the street with guns in their hands. And so I did not see what happened to the press. “And then the kids told me they heard gunshots later.” The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has been called in to investigate the shooting.
