Police were called to report that a 13-year-old girl was attacked on Eastbank Street at around 6:35 p.m. on Sunday, April 3rd. She received punches, kicks and her hair was pulled. The victim needed hospital treatment for his injuries, which included facial injuries, but has since been discharged. Police have now confirmed that they have arrested 10 students in connection with the attack. The suspects are seven girls and three boys, aged 11 to 16, from Waterloo, Seaforth, Crosby, Birkdale and Southport. They were released on bail pending further investigation. Sefton Chief Inspector Tracie Trubshaw said: “This incident was a brutal and shocking attack and the consequences could have been much worse for the victim. The police quickly acted to identify the suspects who were present. our commitment to tackling serious and violent crime. “I would urge parents to tell their children that this kind of behavior is unacceptable. Please know who they are friends with, where they are going and what they are doing. If you have any concerns, contact us to work with families at an early stage to prevent children from getting involved in incidents like this. “Violence against women and girls will not be tolerated and I urge anyone who sees the incident to come forward, we can not allow this kind of behavior to continue on our streets.” Anyone in the area at the time of the attack or drivers who have taken video from the dashboard camera are kindly requested to contact the police.
