Last Friday, the Granbury Police Department responded to an injury report at Granbury Middle School. Authorities say a 37-year-old teacher put hand sanitizer in the hands of a 12-year-old student and lit a flammable solution on fire as part of a classroom experiment. As a result, the student suffered possible third-degree burns. According to CBS Dallas / Fort Worth, the parents said the teacher asked the students if they wanted to “see something nice”. The teacher allegedly did the experiment “several times during the day with other students without incident,” Granbury police said. The injured student was receiving medical care after the incident, according to the school district. Officials did not list the child’s condition. Jeff Meador, the district communications director, told CBS News that the school was unable to provide additional details “as it is a matter of staff”. “We must comply with federal student requirements (sic),” Meador said in a statement.
