This was an absolutely outrageous shelter shot by Rory McIlroy! He could not go anywhere near the flagpole, sending his ball 30 feet to the right and letting the Augusta National topography do the job. “I love Rory McIlroy,” says Matt Dony. “It was an incredible tour, completed in cartoon style. Probably not enough, and congratulations to Scheffler for everything he has done so far. You do not want to be frustrated if you cannot get the right pitch so invest in a good capo. Arg! Intensity! “I’m going to drop another glass of wine.”

McIlroy flew his club to the shelter with complete enjoyment before flying into the cloud nine! The roar, no doubt, was heard throughout. Definitely at 13, where Scheffler pushes his short bird to the right. This is not over yet! And after 18, another great moment as McIlroy’s partner, Colin Morricawa, drills in the sand. McIlroy, with his hands up, celebrates almost as dizzyingly as his own. The couple is embracing, and no matter what happens, this is a Master memory for centuries! -10: Scheffler (13) -7: McIlroy (F) -4: Morikawa (F), Smith (13)

Rory McIlroy shoots 64 and post -7!
Amazing scenes at 18! McIlroy sent his second from the shelter to the left of the corridor into the large trap guarding the right side of the green. He then throws his sand into the heart of the green, using the camper to bring his ball to roll to the left and then roll down the hill and into the cup! It always looked like it was coming in, and that’s a shocking end to an amazing golf tour! Just one off-road record, and posted a sign that, you never know, might still scare Scottie Scheffler! Scheffler bites a wedge from 50 yards to five feet. Smith can only send his third shot at 25 feet, and forges the wedge rubber on the bank of Rae’s Creek. You can not blame him. the frustration given so brutally to the 12th must be overwhelming. Meanwhile until 18 …

Rory McIlroy starts driving at 18 at the shelter on the left. He has to channel Sandy Lyle’s spirit from there. Back at 13, Cam Smith, who can also be hanged for a sheep as a lamb, goes for the green with his second. He does not catch his 5-stick, which is probably for the best, as he stops away from Rae’s Creek. Scottie Scheffler, meanwhile, is lying down. No risks. Does not make sense. It’s four shots clear and six holes away from his first big league!
10.38 p.m. BST 22:38
Will Zalatoris, last year’s runner-up, reaches 18. He signs for a 67 that gives him a lead of -3. Meanwhile, a minute up and down the sand in front of 17 by Rory McIlroy, who was always out of position after sending his car into the trees at the bottom left. He remains alone in second place at -6, but needs a bird down to the last, plus Scottie Scheffler to be overwhelmed by the sheer size of what he is going to accomplish if he wants to have a chance.
10.34 p.m. BST 22:34
This is Scottie Scheffler’s Masters to lose now. His response to Smith’s tragedy is not excellent, an overly conservative T-shirt that almost disappears in the azaleas back left. But his ball gets stuck on the sidelines, and he is able to block a chip up to ten feet. Smith meanwhile sends his third from the dropzone to the far right of the green, and does not come very close when closing four. Scheffler draws and steps from the green to the 13th shirt, leaving Smith to lose his double-bogey putt. A triptych six, and drops the score to -4. Ten minutes ago, Smith’s hopes were a continuing concern. Now everything is over for him. -10: Scheffler (12) -6: McIlroy (16) -4: Smith (12)

Whatever Amen Corner gives with one hand, he takes with the other. Smith, coming out of the tall bird at 11, sends a sad T-shirt at 12, slicing to the right. It falls into the brine. Nowhere near to cross the creek! Cameron Smith enters a long list of players who will take part in the Golden Bell. Jordan Spieth, Francesco Molinari, Tom Weiskopf (see No5 below), all of these. Scheffler leaves his chip eight feet close. Hmm. The door is slightly ajar … and Smith goes through it with a barrel, knocking a bird in the cup with confidence. There is a lot of pressure on Scheffler to make up for it now … but it’s high. Ice in the veins! The gap closes, but Scheffler has ensured it is not a two-shot swing with a steady effort. -10: Scheffler (11) -7: Smith (11)

Outgoing champion Hideki Matsuyama absorbs the love of the fans as he goes up to 18. He completes the defense of his title leaving a chance for a bird to be lost. Level 72. The week ends at +2, and we’ll see him again soon in Butler’s cabin, dressed in a Pantone 342 jacket over his shoulders … well … who? Back at 11, Scheffler, with a shot in the arm, lies down, seeing no point in cutting cubes with the lake on the left and swalling to the right. Smith must do it, though, and throw one of the day’s arrows at the flag. Finishes high, 15 feet from the flag. Great time is coming! McIlroy’s partner, Moricaua, makes a birdie at 15 to join the team at -3. He then sets up a 12-foot uphill birdcage at par-3 16th. Rory then, and he has to go close. He hits his 7-iron at the heart of the track … but the slope does not bring him closer to the hole as he had hoped. Take a couple of steps down and the ball would have taken a break. However, he will take a look at the bird from 15 feet.
10.14 p.m. BST 22:14
McIlroy takes the ball out of the box. Tickles it down, left to right from 20 feet, the ball stops at the width of a dimple to the left. He sits squatting on his feet in agony. It’s not a disaster, but he really needed a bird there to keep up with the dashboard pressure. Stays at -6. Meanwhile, at 17, Zalatoris is a few inches away from rolling on a 30 foot for one more bird. It is not to be. Remains at -3.
